Chris CarmonaChris Carmona, Managing Attorney

Chris has handled a wide range of legal matters involving disputes involving toxic substances, insurance claims, tax payer suits, constitutional challenges, election contests, contract violations, consumer complaints, Family law, educational matters, and employment and labor issues, and premise liability cases.  Recently Chris has been recognized as one of the toughest trial attorneys for insurance related cases after successfully obtaining a jury verdict in favor of his client against State Farm.  Chris has also advised clients regarding regulatory compliance and corporate policies and provisions.  Chris has served as counsel for multiple government entities and elected officials and most recently served as General Counsel for a member of the Texas Legislature. Chris is licensed to practice in all State Courts throughout Texas.  With over 20 years of operations and corporate management experience, Chris is well equipped to handle the complex issues facing the clients that he successfully advises, consults, and represents.

Chris was born in Port Arthur, Texas and raised in Liberty and Houston.  He graduated from Westfield High School and then moved on to receive his B.A. in International Relations from Marymount Manhattan College in New York and then his Law Degree from South Texas College of Law -Houston.  Chris is a member of numerous community and industry-related organizations.


Joseph G. Soliz, Associated Counsel

Joseph G. Soliz is an attorney with over 30 years of legal experience. He is a 1976 Graduate of Texas State University-San Marcos and a 1979 graduate of Harvard Law School. Joseph is an Adjunct Professor, teaching Business Law and other legal courses at Lone Star College – North Harris.  He is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. He is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Joseph has continuously been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1979. His practice areas include the following: oil, gas & mineral law; real estate law; corporate, commercial, business and contract law; educational law; governmental relations, debtor/creditor issues; litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

In addition to his legal practice, Joseph serves as a member on the Board of Directors of SER Ninos, Inc. d/b/a SER Ninos Charter School (www.serninos.org), an open enrollment charter school operating in the Gulfton Area of Houston, Texas.  He also currently serves as a member of the Paralegal Program Advisory Committee of San Jacinto College and the Hispanic Advisory Committee for the Chancellor of Lone Star College.

 

Brian Melendez, Paralegal

Brian joined the team in February of 2022 after recently completing his Paralegal Studies Certificate Program in March 2021 at the University of Houston – Downtown. 

During his free time, he enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities with family and friends or helping out the youth in his church.
